MTCC is an independent organisation established in October 1998 to develop and operate a voluntary national timber certification scheme in Malaysia. It is governed by a Board of Trustees , comprising the Chairman and eight other members comprising representatives from academic and research institutions, the timber industry, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and government agencies. MTCC started its operation in January 1999.
