The Sustainable Forestry Initiative described in a downloadable document below submitted by the Sustainable Forestry Board, Inc. has been endorsed by the PEFC Council on 6 December 2005.
PEFC Council had appointed International Trade Strategies - ITS Global as independent consultant to carry out the assessment of the SFI programme against the PEFC Council requirements for forest certification schemes. The assessment report provided by the consultant created the basis for the PEFC Council's decision on the SFI programme's formal endorsement.
