World Bank - WWF questionnaire hopelessly flawed - new approach offered by PEFC
PEFC Council: After months of efforts to obtain information and to improve the methodology of the World Bank-WWF questionnaire for assessing forest certification schemes (QACC), the PEFC, the world's largest forest certification umbrella, has had no option but to reject the World Bank ? WWF invitation to participate in a biased assessment of forest certification schemes in Europe to be conducted this autumn.
Lack of multi-stakeholder participation in QACC continues
PEFC Council: PEFC Council noted with disappointment that a new version of a World Bank / WWF Questionnaire for Assessing the Comprehensiveness of Forest Certification Schemes / Systems (QACC) has again been developed without any direct stakeholder consultation and participation.
PEFC Council: PEFC Council's first review of the Alliance's internally developed QACC (Questionnaire for Assessing the Comprehensiveness of Certification Schemes / Systems) identifies over 60 areas of concern. Given the shortcomings of the Questionnaire PEFC Council considers field testing the QACC as premature and offers the World Bank/WWF Alliance joint consultations in an open dialogue process.
