| The PEFC Council is currently looking for a Head of Communications - who will be a dynamic and essential part of the team and will be responsible for all external communication activities and will participate in developing the communication strategy and implement it in order to reach clear result targets. This is an important role which will help to Shape environmental progress in global industries and markets and will Drive tomorrow’s growth for a leading international NGO.
The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1999. Through the endorsement of national certification systems, PEFC promotes sustainable forest management and works to provide a market for certified forest products. Membership consists of 35 independent national forest certification systems, of which 23 have completed rigorous assessments and account for over 200 million hectares of certified forests, making PEFC the world's largest certification system. To implement the strategy and serve multiple international stakeholders, PEFC is currently relocating the global headquarters to Geneva. Your role
Based in Geneva and reporting directly to the Secretary General, you are responsible for all strategic and operational external communication activities. You participate in developing the communication strategy and implement it in order to reach clear result targets. You propose and implement relevant action plans, manage all online and offline communication channels (identity, press releases, promotional literature, website, articles, presentations, etc.) and develop powerful new ideas. You represent the PEFC Council internationally by attending and organising events, networking with important stakeholders and creating new contacts. Working in collaboration with the team, you are a proactive liaison between stakeholders and contribute directly to the PEFC Council?s central growth goals: developing sustainable forest management, creating market access for certified timber and promoting rural development.
Your profile
You have native-level English skills (written and spoken); knowledge of other languages is a clear asset. Your relevant university degree is backed up by at least 8 years of proven experience, including a major international communication role and ideally within public affairs or an NGO environment. A team player with an outgoing personality, you are willing and able to interact with people at all levels. Reliable, autonomous and enthusiastic, you easily mobilise your excellent networking and communication skills. You have a strong interest in environmental issues, are able to understand and communicate complex matters in a credible manner, making you a respected contact person in your field.
