2008/03/06 PEFC Council

Latvian certification scheme no longer PEFC recognised

As of 28th February 2008, the Latvian Forest Certification Scheme is no longer endorsed by the PEFC Council and Forest Management Certificates issued against it can not be considered as PEFC recognised.

The Latvian Forest Certification Scheme was endorsed on 20th July 2001 and received two extensions for the endorsement validity in compliance with the PEFC Council documentation until 28th February 2008.

Please note that Chain of Custody certificates issued by PEFC notified certification bodies against the PEFC international Chain of Custody standard (Annex 4 of the PEFC Council Technical Document) are still considered as PEFC recognised.

The PEFC Latvian Forest Certification Scheme is currently undergoing its re-endorsement process and subject to a successful completion of this process, the PEFC Council will be able to reinstate the endorsement status.
