| PEFC Council: Three new brochures on forest certification have been launched by the PEFC Council and are now available on the web page http://www.pefc.org . "The brochures outline sustainable forest management, its certification and responsible procurement of wood-based materials", said Mr. Hannu Valtanen, Vice President of the PEFC Council.

| PEFC Documentation Completely Revised

| PEFC Council General Assembly: The PEFC Council approved its completely revised and updated procedures and documentation at the General Assembly today. The revision is a result of a review procedure established at the beginning of 2001 to look at improvements to the PEFC scheme. The changes include for instance a new, more user-friendly structure of the documents, clarification of terms and requirements and new guidelines to revise the national standards and to harmonise the processes for continuous improvement.

| Forest Certification Council to grow by a third
|

| PEFC Council: The PEFC Council, the world?s largest forest certification umbrella organisation for promoting the independent third party certification of sustainable management of forests, is to expand massively. Eight new independent national forest certification schemes from Asia, Australia, South America and Europe are expected to join the nineteen existing member schemes from Europe and North America at the PEFC Council General Assembly this Friday.

| PEFC Council: The Danish Forest Certification Scheme has today been endorsed by the PEFC Council. The Danish scheme has successfully completed an assessment process and joins 12 other national schemes from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
