Recently Austria's 250th company got their PEFC-certificate. Johann Raffler's company located in Wei?kirchen deals with trading, and works in freight business and as a tree nursery. Their freight business operates with solely one round wood truck, so remaining carriage is forwarded to competitor companies.
In the nurseries in styria and carinthia mainly spruce and larch are raised. The growth reaches about half billion plants and layers a year.Trading with roundwood is focused on 3 assortments spruce, fir and larch for Austria's Saw Mill- and Paper Industries.
One of their specialities is the supply of "Mondphasentannen" to Fa. S?ge Gusswerk, which are harvested from september to february when moon is on the wane. It is used for building high quality wooden houses. This mode of marketing helps the traders to gain proceeds from fir as well.
Believing that "With being PEFC-labelled I too can contribute to promoting forest utilization as it is not equate with ruinous exploitation, but with economy and sustainability" Ing. Johann Raffler explains his decision for joining the Pan-European-Certification Scheme.
In Austria companies in wood processing business are certified through the independent certification company HolzCert Austria.
