Yesterday, the forest division of the Monastery 'Stift Klosterneuburg' (http://www.stift-klosterneuburg.at) made available that a Viennese kindergarten get free tree-trunks for a nature kid-playground. The trunks descended from PEFC certified woods.
For almost 900 years the Augustinians are active in the pastoral, economic, social and cultural field. They also have founded some economical divisions in several business fields.
The forest business area of the monastery contains altogether approx. 8000 hectares, partitioned on ten forestry districts at the River Danube, in the Woods-Quarter, in the Wine-Quarter, in the Vienna Woods and in the Lime- and Central-Alps.
The enterprises are led according to the principles of the sustainability, E.g not more biomass is taken from the forests, than grows again in a natural way.
The protection of threatened animal- and plant species is a special concern to the Monastery Klosterneuburg. Ecological, social and economic targets are taken similarly into account.
"We are pleased to support this kindergarten with tree-trunks for their homemade nature playground" declared Head -Forester Bernard Krisa, at the official hand-over.
The team of kindergarten in Vienna's Possinger-Street thanked for the generous donation. Right after the event the children still took up the new playground with great fun and enthusiasm.
