Collaboration Fund Call for Proposals - 2012

"In 2011 we were overwhelmed by the number of high caliber project proposals we received from committed organizations all around the world," said Sarah Price, Head of Projects & Development at PEFC International. 

"While selecting the winning proposals was indeed difficult, we look forward to receiving even more proposals in 2012 and again selecting the projects best positioned to positively contribute to expanding sustainable forest management," she added during the launch of the 2012 Collaboration Fund during PEFC's General Assembly event held 9-11 November in Montreux, Switzerland.

This year the Collaboration Fund will again seek to support members and partner organizations in their dedicated efforts to advance sustainable forest management and forest certification around the world.

The 2012 Collaboration Fund's objectives are to:

• stimulate new innovative approaches which contribute to PEFC International strategic priorities;
• act as a catalyst for locally relevant projects which embody PEFC International's mission of 'a world where people manage forests sustainably;
• encourage the establishment of new partnerships amongst organizations and/or the strengthening of existing partnerships;
• provide co-funding that leverages funding from additional sources.

PEFC members and other non-profit organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for new and innovative projects by 25 February 2012. Project partners may also include private and public sector organizations.

Proposals requesting a PEFC Collaboration Fund contribution of up to 40,000 CHF and have a project timeframe up to two years will be considered. Grantees must provide evidence of at least 35% additional co-funding from other sources towards the overall project budget.

Meanwhile, progress continues within the 5 projects funded through the 2011 Collaboration Fund. Awarding a total of 120,000 CHF in 2011, the Fund is currently supporting five projects located in Canada, Philippines, Netherlands, Europe and Bosnia Herzegovina.
