Forests are the lifeblood of every living thing

31 May 2022 Forests in photos

This month, we hear from another runner-up in our 2021 PEFC Photo Contest. Ángel Morales, who took the stunning photo "Magic Portal" in Castellbell i el Vilar, Spain, shares this thoughts about forests and what makes them so magical and important for all of us.

How do you feel about forests, both professionally and personally?

Forests are the lifeblood of every living thing. Without them we are lost. Once you understand that forests and nature are everything, peace and love will envelop you like mycelium envelops every corner of this earth.

How did the forest inspire you to take your winning photo?

I took my photo in what I call a “Magical Portal” in Catalonia, Spain. I was inspired by the moment, and my intuition led me to that place. Without searching, but trusting one’s intuition, one can find the real inspiration.

What do you think of the work that an organisation like PEFC does to care for forests?

I like the work that they do a lot. I think everyone should share the same values. Let's take care of the forests and Mother Earth.

All of us can help safeguard our forests. Next time you go shopping, look for the PEFC label.

About the contest
