Forests represent tranquility and the lungs of the earth

25 November 2019 Forests in photos

This November, we hear from Christophe Correy, a runner up in our 2018 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest with his beautiful photograph: Autumn.

How do you feel about forests?

For me, forests represent tranquility, the lives of animals and plants, and the lungs of the earth. When I am in the forest, I can understand why many people have difficulties living in the city.

How did the forest inspire you to take your winning photo?

I like to lose myself when taking a photo. This morning of autumn, I found myself in Normandy and after 10 minutes of walking I found this beautiful wood pierced by the sunlight. I enjoyed this show alone in absolute tranquility and immortalized it in my camera.

What you think of the work that an organization such as PEFC does to care for forests?

I think that anyone who is committed to respecting and protecting forests must maximize awareness and spread the importance that forests have for humankind, as well as the protection of oceans and animal species.

About the contest

In 2018, we held our ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest for the second time. Taking place in 16 countries, over 12,000 photos entered into the 2018 contest, which is even more than in the first year! From the thousands of photos showing wildlife, work, leisure and learning in the forest, we chose our top 12 images – all of which can be seen here.
