New Prize for “Best Use of Certified Timber” at World Architecture Festival – enter now!
14 March 2018 Sustainable construction
Do you use solid wood or take advantage of engineered wood such as CLT or glulam in your construction projects? Have you chosen to specify wood for its many aesthetic, natural and architectural properties, or simply because it is the only renewable building material?
Then this is your chance to be recognized for your commitment to building with wood by the World Architecture Festival (WAF)!
The Best Use of Certified Timber Prize, supported by PEFC and presented for the first time, will reward project teams and architects that have used certified timber in an innovative, educational or artistic manner, whilst demonstrating responsible sourcing in a completed building.
The 11th World Architecture Festival will take place in Amsterdam from 28-30 November 2018. More than 500 architectural practices are expected to compete for a wide range of awards.
Past winners include some of the world’s most iconic and best known architects such as Foster & Partners; Zaha Hadid Architects; Snohetta; BIG; Isay Weinfeld; Perkins & Will; Rogers Stirk Harbour; FJMT; and Sou Fujimoto.
How to enter?
All projects entered on the WAF website for any of the 16 completed buildings award categories are eligible for the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize, supported by PEFC – please remember that the use of certified material is essential.
Simply check the box next to "Please consider me for Best Use of Certified Timber Prize" under "Enter into additional WAF Prizes" to be considered.
A special jury, including a PEFC representative, will identify entries that have used certified timber in an innovative, educational or artistic manner. WAF will contact shortlisted architects to confirm that the timber specified and used in the project originates from certified sources, such as PEFC-certified forests, thereby demonstrating leadership in sustainable design and responsible purchasing.
The jury will hear presentations of the best 10 entries on the morning of Friday 30 November 2018, at WAF in Amsterdam. The winner will be presented with their prize at a Gala Dinner on the same evening.
Please note that the deadline for entry is 11 May 2018. Get started!
