What has changed?

This document establishes the requirements for certification bodies carrying out PEFC chain of custody certification.

As we continue to make our standards more robust, this revision will require that auditors have specific experience on PEFC Chain of Custody audits and includes requirements for certification decision makers. 

The standard will also reflect our commitment towards gender responsive standards, ensuring that certification bodies consider gender equity within the personnel involved in the certification activities and the audit team. 

We also look to modernize the certification procedures, by considering the use of technology in remote auditing for client organizations without physical handling of finished and labelled products.

Public consultations

Public consultations are a vital part of the development process of our international standards. They are when you get to read the draft standard, make your comments and give direct feedback. Every comment made will get an answer.

This public consultation comes towards the end of our current PEFC Standards Revision process. We have already revised and published several international standards, including Sustainable Forest Management and Group Certification. 

Public consultations are also running for our PEFC Chain of Custody and PEFC Trademarks standards. You can give your feedback on both these vital documents until 9 July.
